Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions that we get asked - we hope this helps!

Q. Do I have to have a provisional licence before I start learning?

A. Yes! Here's some more information - click HERE

Q. Do I have to pass my theory before learning to drive?

A. Nope! You can start learning to drive as soon as you have your provisional licence. We can support you with your theory though.

Q. What will happen on my first lesson? What do I need to bring?

A. Please check out our page HERE which explains everything you need to know about your first lesson

Q. How many lessons do I need? How often should I have lessons?

A. The DVSA recommend you have around 40 hours of lessons. This will depend on how quickly you learn and how often you have lessons. How often you have lessons will depend on your availability. Students usually have lessons weekly. Some choose to have more than one lesson a week, and some choose to have lessons fortnightly. How often you have lessons is completely up to you! You can also choose the length of your lessons - you could have 1 hour lessons, 1.5 hour lessons, or 2 hour lessons. Occasionally we do longer lessons for various reasons - if you would like a longer lesson, please talk to your instructor.

Q. What areas do you cover?

A. We cover a wide area covering Southampton, Eastleigh, Chandlers ford, Swanmore and all the areas in between. Click HERE to find out more areas we cover and to find more information.

Q. How much do you charge?

A. Our current prices can be found HERE

Q. How do I pay for my lessons?

A. You can pay by cash, bank transfer, or gift voucher. For block bookings, you must pay up front in advance. For normal lessons, you can choose to pay in advance, or on the day of your lesson.

Q. Can I buy lessons as a present for someone?

A. Yes of course! Please contact Toni on 07435 290292 or send us an E-mail. We can send a gift certificate to you, or send it directly to recipient in a nice card/envelope

Q. How do I cancel my lesson?

A. You can contact your instructor directly to cancel and rearrange your lesson. Please give us 24 hours notice to cancel, otherwise we may have to charge you for cancelling at short notice

Q. Do you have terms & conditions?

A. Yes, please click HERE

Q. What types of support do you offer?

A. We can help -

~ Younger or older drivers

~ Those who are particularly nervous or have bad anxiety

~ Those with additional needs such as dyspraxia, dyslexia, and more

~ Those who have already passed their test and would like refresher lessons

~ Motorway lessons

~ Theory training

If there's anything else you'd like support with that's not listed here, please do get in touch.

Q. Do you do intensive courses?

A. We don't offer full intensive courses where you drive for 8 hours a day over 5 days, for various reasons. We often find students do not learn best this way, learning to drive can be overwhelming and it's a lot to take in. You'll lack overall driving experience and the pressure of learning can be too much. However, we can provide a lesson schedule to suit your needs if you have a target date in mind, please contact us to see what we can offer you.

Q. Can I drive on a motorway as a learner driver?

A. Yes! However, you must be with an Approved Driving Instructor in a car fitted with dual controls. You may not drive on a motorway with a trainee driving instructor, or with friends or family.

Q. When can I book my driving test?

A. This will vary from student to student. We strongly recommend speaking to your driving instructor first, as they will be able to give you a better idea as to when you are ready. It is also recommended that your instructor books your test on your behalf as then there is less stress with finding a suitable date and time that works for the both of you.

Q. Can I learn to drive with friends or family?

A. Yes! However, you must meet all of the legal requirements.

~ Your supervising driver must be 21 years or over

~ Your supervising driver must have held a valid UK driving licence for 3+ years

~ Your supervising driver must follow the same rules as if they were driving - no using mobile phones, drinking, taking drugs, etc.

~ You must have visible L plates on the front and rear of your car

~ Your car must have tax and an MOT, and be legal and roadworthy

~ You must have the appropriate insurance. Our recommendations include Marmalade or Collingwood.

~ You must have an additional mirror fitted for the examiner if you wish to take your car to your driving test

Q. I still have a question...

A. Please contact us HERE if none of the above helps :)
